Look who hopped by the apiary last night, a curious little rabbit checking out the hives under the stars. πŸπŸ’› It’s always amazing to see the other wildlife that shares the space with our bees.

Who knew the apiary had such a lively night shift? πŸ˜‰

Shout out to the Green Folk hive featuring in the video!

❌🐝 Varroa mites feed on bees, weaken their im ❌🐝 Varroa mites feed on bees, weaken their immune systems, and can spread harmful viruses throughout the colony.

Beekeepers monitor them closely because early detection and careful management are crucial for keeping hives healthy.

The good news is some bees are starting to show natural resistance to varroa. Certain colonies can groom mites off themselves or limit their reproduction, which gives hope for more resilient hives in the future. πŸ’› 🐝

Here at Buckley’s Bees we only breed from colonies showing this behaviour, so hopefully one day all bees are sustainable again and resistant to this mite!
