Although it might make it harder for us who do rea Although it might make it harder for us who do rear our own locally adapted, near native bees to advertise, at least this will stop imported bees being sold through BKA’s to people unaware of the issues they could bring, not to mention the genetic dilution of our native species!
Buy British Bred Bees from breeder who have been doing it a long time!
Support British producers not importers of nonnative bees!!! 🐝

🐝 Meet the big daddy’s of the Hive: Our Nativ 🐝 Meet the big daddy’s of the Hive: Our Native Drones! 🖤
Here at Buckley’s Bees, we’re on a mission to support strong, healthy colonies, starting with the gentlemen of the hive! This handsome fellow is one of our native black bee drones and while he may not make honey or tend to the brood, his role is absolutely vital. They’re the hive’s eligible bachelors and their main job is to mate with a newly hatched queen. 👑

🕶️ Cool facts about drones:
	•	Drones are male bees, and they don’t have stingers - totally harmless!
	•	They don’t work in the hive or forage like the females (workers) - they’ve got one job and it’s all about genetics.
	•	Their large eyes help them spot queens during flight - because love at first flight is real in the bee world! 💘
	•	After mating (if they’re lucky enough), that’s the end of their story - talk about going out with a bang.

Our native black bee drones are especially beautiful, with their sleek dark coloring and laid-back nature. They’re an essential part of maintaining strong, healthy genetics in our colonies.

We actively work to increase our drone populations to give our queens the best chance of mating with strong, local genetics. After all, a well-mated queen is the key to a thriving hive!

Please buy British bees and don’t buy Buckfast or imported strains! Help save our native honeybee!

🐝🌼 Happy World Bee Day! 🌼🐝 Today we c 🐝🌼 Happy World Bee Day! 🌼🐝

Today we celebrate our incredible pollinators including our native honey bee, Apis Mellifera Mellifera! These tiny workers are essential for healthy ecosystems and the food we eat, pollinating over 75% of our leading crops. Without them, our plates (and planet) would look very different.

Let’s protect their habitats, plant more native flowers, and support sustainable practices. Every little action helps keep our buzzing friends thriving. 💛🌍
