    Beekeeping was never just a hobby in our house, it Beekeeping was never just a hobby in our house, it was something much deeper, something rooted in patience, respect and quiet dedication. And for my dad, it’s always been about doing things the right way and for the love of it! I grew up watching my dad (David) tend to our hives with a kind of calm focus that made everything else feel still. But what really sets him apart is his commitment to British-bred bees from native genetics (never imports!). He’s never been interested in shortcuts or quick fixes. While others might import bees for convenience, he’s stayed loyal to our native strains - believing in their resilience, their ability to thrive in our climate and their place in our ecosystem. For him, it’s not about honey production; it’s about conservation, sustainability and protecting something that truly belongs here. Over the years, I’ve come to understand just how much care and intention goes into what he does. It’s in the way he talks about the bees, the pride he takes in strong, healthy colonies and the respect he shows for nature’s balance. Beekeeping with my dad has taught me more than I ever expected, not just about bees, but about patience, responsibility and staying true to your values, even when it’s not the easiest path. And honestly, I wouldn’t trade those moments by the hives for anything! #secondgenerationbeekeepers #buckleysbees #beekeepingfamily
