Please Note: Because we refuse to compromise on quality or rush nature, we do not yet know how many NUCs will make it to market this season. Why We Champion British-Bred NUCs

We are passionately driven to preserve our native honeybee, Apis mellifera mellifera (AMM) bee and protect the UK ecosystem. While a high percentage of bees and queens sold in the UK are imported from abroad, we believe the only sustainable path forward is through local breeding and regional adaptation.

  • Strictly Zero Imports: Unlike many suppliers, we have never imported bees and we never introduce queens from abroad. Every single NUC is bred and selected right here in Britain from proven, long-standing British lines.
  • Bred for Key Native Traits: We selectively breed from stock that shows a calm, docile temperament (ideal for beginners and experienced beekeepers alike), strong hygienic behavior, reliable overwintering in UK conditions and resilience against Varroa.
  • Open-Mated Transparency: Our bees are open-mated, which means genetic purity cannot be guaranteed. Depending on the specific area they are mated, their genetic line will vary. However, we take immense pride in our colonies and promise to give you as much detailed information about your specific colony’s background as we possibly can.

We know that building up the quality and resilience of the British honeybee is a long-term process and we need to be in this together. To prevent the mixing of distinct regional ecotypes and ensure these bees thrive in the climate they were bred for, we operate under strict geographic limits:

  • 100-Mile Radius Limit: You must be re-siting your new colony within a 100-mile radius of the mating site.
  • Collection Only: To ensure the welfare of the colony, all orders are strictly Click & Collect. We do not post or courier our NUCs.
