Great Taste Award Winner | 100% Pure & Unpasteurised
There is something extraordinary about a jar of real, raw honey – it is a pure snapshot of the Cheshire countryside, gathered blossom by blossom.
At Buckley’s Bees, our honey is never mass-produced, blended, or heated. Every single jar contains 100% pure, unpasteurised British raw honey, spun directly from our own hives managed right here across the fields and woodlands of Cheshire.
When you taste our award-winning Cheshire Honey, you are tasting the forage of oak woods, clover pastures, hedgerows, and wildflower meadows – crafted by hundreds of thousands of native honeybees over a lifetime of tireless journeys.

Why Our Honey Stands Apart: Bees First, Always
For over eight decades in the apiary, we have held to one golden rule: the welfare of the bee colony comes before the harvest.
- Surplus Honey Only: We never strip a hive bare or feed our colonies cheap sugar-syrup substitutes to boost yield. We only ever harvest the true surplus left behind after our bees have secured their own winter stores. Natural honey provides bees with essential micronutrients, enzymes, and natural immunity that artificial feeds can never replicate.
- Cold-Filtered & Unprocessed: Commercial honeys are often ultra-filtered and heat-treated, stripping away beneficial pollens and delicate aromatic compounds. We coarse-filter our honey at room temperature to preserve its natural health properties, floral notes, and rich enzyme profile.
- Supporting Native Honeybee Conservation: As active members of the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) and the Bee Improvement and Bee Breeders’ Association (BIBBA), every purchase directly supports our work in breeding, protecting, and multiplying native British honeybees (Apis mellifera mellifera) adapted to thrive in our climate.
An Award-Winning Taste Profile
Recognised by the Guild of Fine Food with a prestigious Great Taste Award, our Cheshire Honey offers a complex, beautifully balanced flavour profile.
- Flavour: Smooth, buttery floral tones with subtle caramel undernotes from late-summer nectar flows.
- Texture: Naturally golden and silky smooth, with a delicate aroma of fresh comb and native flora.
- Pairing: Exquisite drizzled over warm porridge, paired with mature Cheshire cheeses, spread on sourdough, or enjoyed straight from the spoon.
Storage & Care Instructions:
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Natural Crystallisation: Real, raw honey will naturally crystallise over time—this is a hallmark of pure, unprocessed honey containing natural pollens. If you prefer a liquid state, gently place the glass jar in a bowl of warm water (under 40°C) until golden and clear once more.
- Safety Notice: Unsuitable for infants under 12 months of age.
Beyond the Jar: How You Help Us Save the Bees
When you buy a jar of Buckley’s Bees Cheshire Honey, you aren’t just buying artisanal food, you are actively investing in the British countryside.
Your support enables us to:
- Expand Native Breeding Programs: Reversing the decline of native pollinators through selective breeding for hardiness and disease resistance.
- Educate & Inspire: Training future generations of responsible, ethical beekeepers across the UK.
- Protect Local Habitats: Working alongside land stewards, corporate partners, and scientific researchers to enhance forage and bio-diversity.
Q: Is Cheshire Honey raw and unpasteurised?
A: Yes. All Buckley’s Bees honey is 100% raw, unpasteurised, and cold-extracted. We never heat-treat our honey, ensuring all natural enzymes, pollens, and rich floral flavours remain completely intact.
Q: What makes Great Taste Award honey different from supermarket honey?
A: Supermarket honeys are frequently imported blends treated with high heat and ultra-filtration to extend shelf life, removing beneficial pollens and floral depth. Our Great Taste Award-winning honey comes strictly from our own hives in Cheshire and is judged purely on its outstanding natural flavour profile, aroma, and texture.
Q: Why does raw honey crystallise?
A: Crystallisation is a natural process that proves your honey is raw and unheated. Glucose in natural honey separates from water and forms fine crystals around natural pollen grains. It can easily be returned to liquid by gently warming the jar in water.
