Get ready for an unforgettable dive into the extraordinary world of bees. The Inside the Hive Experience isn’t just an activity; it’s a meaningful adventure for nature lovers, curious minds and anyone who has ever marvelled at these tireless pollinators.

Taking place on the 27th of June, across three immersive hours, participants receive guidance from expert beekeepers with over eight decades of combined experience. Affiliated with both the BBKA and BIBBA, our team supports essential research into bee health, habitat balance and the conservation of our native honeybee population (Apis mellifera mellifera). We are motivated not by profit, but by a passionate commitment to raise the profile of the honeybee within our ecosystem and inspire future generations of beekeepers.

 

What to Expect on the Day

  • Unlocking the Colony’s Secrets: The session begins by exploring the complex social structure of the hive, focusing on native honeybee species. Participants handle real frames of comb and discover how bees have evolved into one of the planet’s most vital pollinators.
  • Stepping Into the Apiary: Next comes the real magic. Suit up in full protective beekeeping gear and walk into the heart of the Cheshire apiary. Surrounded by the gentle hum of thousands of bees, observe a living colony at work as they communicate, build and cooperate in perfect harmony.
  • A Moment to Remember: Confident guests will even have the opportunity to hold a frame thronging with bees in their own hands, creating an awe-inspiring moment and the ultimate photograph to cherish.

How Booking Works for the 2027 Season

To ensure the apiary remains calm and the colonies are never stressed, participant numbers per session are strictly limited. Bookings are currently open for the 27th of June 2027.

  • Secure a Place: Select whether the booking is a personal treat or a gift for a loved one. Personalised digital gift vouchers can be requested during checkout.
  • Priority 2027 Roster: The booking is logged directly onto the priority list for the upcoming 2027 season. The experience will take place on Sunday the 27th of June.
  • Date Sunday the 27th of June: The experience date allocated for the 2027 season is Sunday the 27th of June. Please note that this is a fixed date, unless the weather is unfit. Should the weather prevent us from delivering the session we will be in touch with an alternative date.
